Spurs are plotting talks with Bayern Munich to slash Joao Palhinha’s asking price — but only if they beat the drop.

Everything at Tottenham this summer hinges on one thing: Premier League survival. Should Spurs escape relegation, the club are expected to back their manager with significant investment — and Palhinha is firmly in their plans.
The Portuguese midfielder arrived on loan from Bayern Munich, carrying a £25 million buy option that Tottenham have no intention of triggering at face value. Instead, according to Football Insider, Spurs are set to open negotiations with the Bavarians in a bid to bring that figure down considerably.
Bayern’s Stance Holds the Key
Bayern Munich are equally keen to resolve Palhinha’s future. With Vincent Kompany reportedly unlikely to hand him a role next season, the German giants may be open to cashing in — even at a discount.
It wouldn’t be the first time. Bayern showed flexibility with Mathys Tel’s move to Spurs last summer, and a similar arrangement for Palhinha isn’t out of the question.
Why Palhinha Still Makes Sense
His performances haven’t always impressed, but Palhinha delivered when it mattered most — none more so than his last-gasp winner against Wolves last weekend. That kind of big-moment quality, combined with Premier League experience, makes him a valuable commodity.
With Yves Bissouma expected to leave and Pape Matar Sarr’s future uncertain, holding onto Palhinha at the right price could prove shrewd business.
The fee is the only real obstacle. Get that right, and this deal gets done.
