Joao Pedro matches Hasselbaink and Costa feat for Chelsea

Joao Pedro scored a ludicrous consolation goal during Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian’s brilliant overhead kick was the sole highlight of another disappointing day for Chelsea, who have now lost six consecutive Premier League games.

Pedro has been one of the few success stories from Chelsea’s record-breaking investment in recent transfer windows, with his outrageous overhead his 15th goal of the Premier League campaign.

The 24-year-old is the only player in the Premier League with 15+ goals and no penalties scored, while he’s become only the third Chelsea player to score 15 non-penalty Premier League goals in his debut campaign.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was first to achieve the feat in 2000/01, as the then-club record signing scored 23 league goals on route to the Premier League’s Golden Boot. 19 of the Dutchman’s goals came from open-play.

Diego Costa then matched that achievement in 2014/15, scoring just one penalty despite a 20-goal haul, as Chelsea won the title under Jose Mourinho.
