Chelsea have today released their home kit for next season, a retro looking blue and yellow number.

“The 2026/27 season marks 75 seasons since Ted Drake took over and reshaped Chelsea’s identity,” the club’s accompanying PR guff reads.

“He gave the club its Rampant Lion. A symbol that still leads us today.”

The shirt keeps the Club World Cup champions badge which the Blues also sported last season. That’s a slightly controversial decision, considering how rubbish we have been since January.

It’s been noted that neither Marc Cucurella nor Enzo Fernandez were included in the kit launch photos, following strong links connecting them with moves away from the club.

How do we feel about it? Well the floppy collar is a bit rubbish, and the endless use of these textured shirts is getting a bit old.

The material and the sleeves… it just doesn’t look much like a football shirt, does it? That’s compounded by the lack of a front of shirt sponsor, but that’s a problem for another day.

In other news…

Selling Marc Cucurella would be a quick way to raise some good money this summer – but a lot of fans would object to the idea for this very simple reason.

There will be major changes to Chelsea’s squad this summer, and two of the key roles the Blues want to fill have already been named.
