Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says Ipswich Town’s ambition and conversations with manager Gary O’Neil convinced him to join the Premier League club.The 22-year-old completed a permanent move from Leicester City, signing a five-year contract after an impressive campaign in which he scored nine goals and represented Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Speaking after the move, Fatawu said he was excited by the project at Portman Road.”I am proud to have signed for Ipswich Town.””The ambition the club has is very exciting, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that as we prepare for the Premier League season.”The winger revealed that discussions with head coach Gary O’Neil also played a major role in his decision.”After speaking to the manager, I know what the expectation is, and I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and starting work.”Having previously faced Ipswich during his time with Leicester, Fatawu also acknowledged the club’s passionate supporters.”I have played against Ipswich a few times during my time in England, and I know how passionate the supporters are for the club, so I’m excited to play for them and show them what I can do.”The Ghana international will now head to Spain to join his new teammates for pre-season as Ipswich prepare for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
