Wilfried Singo Newcastle bid could tempt Galatasaray

Newcastle United have entered the race for Galatasaray’s Wilfried Singo, approaching the Turkish club with what has been described as a “record breaking” offer of €40 million, according to Fanatik, citing information from Sabah.

Singo, who was signed from Monaco for €30 million last season, could be set for an immediate exit and a move to the Premier League. Newcastle have officially entered the race for the 25-year-old, with the Magpies now understood to have approached Galatasaray’s management directly with the offer.

Why Galatasaray could be talked into a Wilfried Singo sale

Galatasaray are in no rush to sell. Singo is signed to a deal running until 2030, giving the club a strong contractual position regardless of any offer that arrives. A sale, however, would help their own plans to fill the void at right-back. They have former star Sacha Boey, who Bayern Munich would reportedly like to sell this summer, on their agenda as a potential replacement.

That desire to bring Boey back could be exactly what tempts Galatasaray into a sale at the right price. Whether €40 million is that price remains to be seen, though given Transfermarkt currently rates Singo at €23 million, Newcastle’s offer already represents a considerable premium above his market valuation, which could go some way to persuading the Turkish club to do business.

Why Newcastle need defensive reinforcements

Newcastle find themselves on the hunt for a new centre-back option despite already having Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Dan Burn and Fabian Schär at their disposal. With a bid now officially on the table for Singo, he becomes a name worth watching closely as the transfer window enters its final two weeks.

Newcastle are also linked with another triple signings that can end up changing fortunes at St. James Park this summer.
