Sheffield United sign Birmingham City attacker Baker on loan

Sheffield United have signed Birmingham City attacker Ava Baker on a season-long loan deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this evening.

The 20-year-old England youth international is a product of the Leicester City academy system and she made her senior debut for the club just days after turning 16. Baker was the youngest player to score a goal for The Foxes when she netted against Sunderland in January 2023.

Baker joined Birmingham City in summer 2024. She has been on the Blues’ books for the last two seasons, although she spent the second half of the 2025/2026 campaign on loan at Ipswich Town where she helped the club to retain their Barclays WSL2 status.

The youngster will now hope to make a positive impression at Sheffield United.

After joining Sheffield United on loan, Baker said “I’m delighted to finally get it through, especially with the first game here on Sunday. I’m glad that it’s all gone through and I’m excited to get started.

“Even just watching snippets of training, to get a taste of what it’s going to be like, it looked good, and I’m excited to get on the pitch with the girls and get started on Sunday.”

Baker is Sheffield United’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
