Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has retained Kwasi Sibo in his squad for the Black Stars’ opening matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, despite the midfielder yet to make his debut for his new club, Al-Swehly.The 27-year-old completed a move to the Libyan side from Spanish outfit Real Oviedo this summer, with widespread attention surrounding reports of a two-year contract worth $10m.Queiroz has nevertheless kept faith with the midfielder, naming him in his 24-man squad for crucial fixtures against Cte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.Ghana begin their qualifying campaign with a demanding trip to Bouak, where they face Cte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix on 24 September.The Black Stars then return to the Accra Sports Stadium to host The Gambia on 27 September as Queiroz seeks to build early momentum in Group C.Following the qualifiers, Ghana will round off the international window with a high-profile friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.Although Sibo is still waiting to feature for Al-Swehly, he remains an important part of Ghana’s midfield after his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.He appeared in all four of the Black Stars’ matches at the tournament, playing 249 minutes.Sibo started Ghana’s goalless draw with England and also featured against Panama, Croatia and Colombia as the Black Stars reached the knockout stage before exiting to the South Americans.
