Chelsea are back in training as the international break comes to an end, and there are some interesting things to note on who is there and who is not.

Estevao got good minutes for Brazil in the break but is already back working at Cobham.

Mike Penders was also spotted on the grass, as was Emmanuel Emegha, who has had constant injury issues. Marco Palestra is out there and should be able to make his debut on Saturday.

The Argentines played late last night and will be travelling back today. We don’t expect them in training until Friday.

Chelsea’s one big miss from this week’s sessions

The really bad news is Moises Caicedo. We hoped he would be training throughout this break. Instead he’s still nowhere to be seen, and that indicates that a) we shouldn’t expect him back anytime soon and b) his injury is far more serious than we thought, even after he aggravated it by coming on as a sub last month.

Perhaps they’re just hiding him – we fear that’s not the case. We will try to find out more in Xabi Alonso’s press conference later this week.

In other news…

Laurence Stewart is set to leave Chelsea after four years, an unexpected move which sees the Blues trim their bloated sporting leadership team.

Two Blues are being nominated for the Golden Boy award, one can guess one, the other may surprise you.
