Como shut door on Nico Paz exit amid Man United, Chelsea links

Como have no intention of selling Nico Paz in the January transfer window amid interest from Premier League teams.

Paz placed himself in the spotlight after a Champions League destruction of Manchester United earlier this month, scoring twice and creating another in a 4-1 Como win.

United are among the clubs to have since been linked with the Argentine, alongside Arsenal and Chelsea. United’s interest could accelerate amid doubts over Bruno Fernandes’ future. The Portugal international was dropped for the weekend defeat to Bournemouth after criticism of Michael Carrick’s tactics, following that heavy defeat in Como. His contract expires next summer, though the Red Devils have an option to extend until 2027.

Paz could be targeted as a long-term replacement. However, Real Madrid also have a buy-back option worth around €80m (£66m) for the midfielder, which can be triggered next summer.

Como to reject all Nico Paz approaches in January

Como are set to resist all offers in the winter window. TEAMtalk are reporting that Cesc Fabregas has no intention of weakening his side mid-season, as Como compete in Serie A and Europe. Should interest arrive from the Premier League in January, Como will demand a fee in excess of €100m.

Paz has scored three goals and provided three assists in eight Serie A appearances, while he has five goal involvements in three Champions League games. Como consider him irreplaceable to their season’s ambitions and will not entertain offers before summer 2027.
