Chelsea scouts watch Monaco striker Paris Brunner

Chelsea have sent scouts to watch Paris Brunner, the 20-year-old Monaco striker who has eight goals in ten games this season, and they are far from the only club keeping tabs on him.

The German forward has caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, and according to Sports Mole, citing journalist Ekrem Konur, three Premier League sides are also interested: Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Of those three, it is the Blues who have already moved beyond simply admiring him from afar.

Paris Brunner’s numbers at Monaco

Brunner is enjoying a superb 2026-27 campaign at Monaco. He has eight goals in ten games in all competitions, with four of those coming in six Ligue 1 matches.

Those numbers have put him on the radar of several leading European clubs. Dortmund have been linked with a move that would take the Dortmund-born striker back to Germany, while PSG are also big admirers.

He is on the fringes of the Germany squad too, although he was not selected for the national team’s most recent gatherings.

What will Paris Brunner cost?

Monaco know exactly what they have. The Principality club have set a first asking price, and they do not intend to sell Brunner for less than £25.5m (€30m).

That is double his current market value of £12.8m (€15m), so any buyer will be paying a premium for his form rather than his reputation.

The Monaco number 29 is under contract until June 2028, which leaves the French side in a strong position. Even so, they would not be opposed to a sale as early as January 2027, although an exit at the end of this season looks more logical. That would let Monaco keep him for a few more months and, they will hope, watch his price climb further.

Chelsea make the first move

There has been no formal offer from Chelsea. Instead, the Blues have sent emissaries to watch Brunner in person, though the match or matches they attended have not been named.

It is still a step ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham, whose interest has not gone further than that at this stage.

It also puts Chelsea in direct competition with PSG once again, with the French club already circling a January loan for Estevao.

Is Paris Brunner the striker Chelsea need?

I like this one. A 20-year-old scoring at that rate in Ligue 1 for £25.5m is the kind of deal that can look like a bargain in two years, and Chelsea are better placed than most to take that gamble.

The timing matters, though. Xabi Alonso’s side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties at Anfield this week, and a forward who can grow into the role over the next 18 months would suit the long-term plan rather than a quick fix.

The danger is waiting. If Brunner keeps scoring through the winter, Monaco’s £25.5m floor will not be the final price by the summer, and PSG and Dortmund will not stand still. If Chelsea really rate him, January could be the cheaper moment to strike.
