Jamie Carragher has backed Chelsea fans by calling out the Luke O’Nien foul on Cole Palmer in today’s defeat against Sunderland.
“It’s a terrible challenge… how the referee doesn’t give a foul, whether it’s outside the box or not, I don’t know,” Carragher said.
“It’s a foul” agreed Daniel Sturridge. They went on to debate whether the incident was inside the box. You can see their discussion here.
Carragher says VAR failing Premier League

That then led to a longer discussion about VAR and the way it’s used in the Premier League right now:
“Something is seriously wrong with the way VAR is being used in the Premier League. Every week, we find ourselves discussing another controversial decision, and the frustration among players, managers and supporters continues to grow,” Carragher said.
“Take the incident involving Cole Palmer. For me, the decision raises more questions than answers. If the referee and VAR believe the contact happened outside the penalty area, then surely a free kick should have been awarded. You cannot simply dismiss the incident and leave everyone wondering what the actual decision was.”
The farce continues. VAR never should have been brought in, and the sooner people realise that the better.
