Jarell Quansah didn’t wait long to show his commitment to Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old English-Ghanaian defender reported early to the club’s preseason training camp in Rio de Janeiro, joining his new teammates ahead of schedule.
Signed from Liverpool FC, Quansah was expected to miss the initial days of the training camp, scheduled to run until July 24, due to an extended holiday following his participation in the U21 European Championship. Instead, he made an early appearance, a move that pleased both the coaching staff and fans.
Leverkusen are banking on the young centre-back to bring the same composure and strength he showed at Anfield to their Bundesliga campaign. The team sees his early arrival as a positive sign of his hunger to make an impact.
The Rio camp marks the beginning of Leverkusen’s preseason plans, which includes a string of friendly matches. They begin with a clash against Flamengo U20, followed by games against Bochum, Fortuna, Pisa, and a final high-profile test against Chelsea.
