NWSL stats and minutiae after Week 25

Here’s a look at some stats and minutiae following Week 25 of the 2026 NWSL season. We’ll keep evolving this space every week to try and keep you informed. Have an idea or an addition? Hit me @thedanlauletta on Bsky or X.

Before we get into it, here is a look at how the table stands. Note that Gotham FC, the San Diego Wave and the Washington Spirit have clinched playoff berths, and the Chicago Stars, Racing Louisville, Boston Legacy, Bay FC, Houston Dash and Orlando Pride have been eliminated. Gotham and the Wave are assured of hosting quarterfinals.

All statistics reference regular season games only except where noted.

PLAYER STATS

–Ashley Sanchez remains on 20 goals, tied for the single-season league record first established by Temwa Chawinga in 2024. Barbra Banda, the closest pursuer in the Golden Boot race with 17, is awaiting clearance to return to the U.S. due to medical restrictions from traveling to Uganda and will miss at least this weekend’s match for the Pride.

-The assist record also hangs in the balance. Cloé Lacasse and Croix Bethune remain at 10 assists, equaling Tobin Heath and Bethune two years ago for the single-season record.

–Sofia Huerta assisted a goal for Nérilia Mondésir, extending her all-time record to 36. Her closest pursuer, Vanessa DiBernardo, also had an assist and has 33 for her career. Jess Fishlock’s assist was her 31st, tied for third all-time with Jess McDonald and Lynn Biyendolo.

–Kaleigh Kurtz has now played 142 consecutive regular season matches and 12,742 consecutive minutes. Both are league records. The streaks began June 26, 2021, while playing for the Courage. (The unrounded number is due to a rain-shortened match in 2023.)

-No players made NWSL debuts last weekend.

-Status quo on the 10/10 club with two weeks to play: Trinity Rodman and Cloe Lacasse remain closest to reaching the milestone. Rodman has 11G/8A while Lacasse is on 8G/10A. Pietra Tordin is at 8G/9A.

-All nine players to have played every minute this season played full 90s over the weekend to remain on course for ironmen seasons. The six field players are Kate Del Fava, Jessie Fleming, Kaleigh Kurtz, Tara Rudd, Kennedy Wesley (mistakenly named here last week as Kennedy Fuller) and Ryan Williams. The other three — Angelina Anderson, Sandy MacIver, and Kailen Sheridan — are goalkeepers.

–Amanda Gutierres has not played any full 90s, but that did not stop her from scoring her 10th goal of the season for the Legacy. She is the only player ever to reach 10 goals in a season without playing 90 minutes in any game.

TEAM STATS

-Kate Del Fava remains minute-perfect for the Royals having played all 7,200 over 80 games since the team launched in 2024. Those are the longest streaks from the start of any expansion team.

-The Washington Spirit clinched a playoff berth, their 7th in club history and 3rd in a tow. Three straight matches the best for the team, first achieved 2014-2016.

-Despite winning, the Pride were eliminated from playoff contention. It ended a two-year streak of being a playoff team. The Pride have now missed the playoffs in 7 of their 10 seasons.

-The Spirit’s win over Gotham moved the team to 116-116-74. The club has only been above .500 as a club once, following a win over the Reign on September 7, 2016. The Spirit then lost games away to the Reign and then Red Stars to lose out on the Shield to the Thorns and fall below .500 where they have been ever since.

-If you piggyback the Courage statistics with the Western New York Flash, who were sold and relocated to The Triangle in early 2017, the loss to the Wave was the 100th in franchise history.

-Racing Louisville have still not kept a clean sheet this season.
