Jun Endō was substituted off for Angel City FC in the 36th minute of the club’s win against San Diego Wave on July 11. She was replaced by Taylor Suarez.

Now, almost three weeks later, the Los Angeles-based club confirmed that Endō has suffered a torn ACL. She has been placed on the National Women’s Soccer League’s Season-Ending Injury List (SEI List).

“This is not the news you ever want to receive about an athlete, especially someone who has worked so incredibly hard to get back on the field doing what she loves,” ACFC Director of Medical Hollie Walusz said, via a press release. “Jun means so much to our team and our organization. We are committed to supporting her throughout her recovery and will be with her every step of the way.”

The Japanese international joined Angel City in 2022, and has since made 44 starts in 58 regular-season appearances. She has four goals and six assists to her name.

This is Endō’s second ACL injury, after suffering the same fate in February 2024, during preseason training. She is currently under contract with Angel City through the 2027 NWSL season.

Endō has made 42 appearances, scoring five goals, for the Japan women’s national team.
