Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has described Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as ‘mad man’, while expressing delight working under the Spanish gaffer following their FA Cup glory over Chelsea.

Semenyo emerged as the hero for the Sky Blues on Saturday afternoon, scoring the only goal to power Guardiola to his 20th trophy at Manchester City. The Etihad outfit have now won the FA Cup eight times behind Arsenal (14) and Manchester United (13).

After a pulsating goalless draw first half, the Black Stars attacker rose to the occasion in the second half, firing home a superb flick in the 72nd-minute to hand his outfit victory. He met Erling Haaland’s cross with a clever first-time right-foot finish across Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

“He’s a mad man! We all love him, he’s so passionate, you can see it, and he wants to win trophies! And what he’s done for the club is amazing, and I’m so grateful to be here, so grateful that he gets to coach me and make me a better player. He’s just a top man!” he said after the match.

The goal not only secured FA Cup glory for City but also ensured Semenyo became the first Ghanaian to score in the final of the famous competition since its inception in 1871.

Since joining Manchester City in January, the enterprising Ghana forward has now secured two titles, having previously lifted the Carabao Cup.

Semenyo and his Manchester City teammates will now turn their attention to the Premier League title race, with two games remaining in the campaign. Having already bagged two domestic trophies, the Ghana international will be hoping to help City edge Arsenal to complete a treble this season.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a sensational first half of the campaign with Bournemouth before sealing a high-profile move to the Etihad Stadium during the winter transfer window.

His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a place on the Premier League Player of the Season shortlist. Across all competitions for Bournemouth and Manchester City this season, Semenyo has registered 20 goals and provided six assists.
