Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is on the verge of leaving newly-crowned Women’s Super League champions Manchester City.

Shaw is out of contract this summer and talks to extend her deal have halted, according to reports in the Guardian.

The Guardian says that Shaw wanted a longer contract than the club was prepared to offer, and that she wanted to stay at the club for the rest of her career.

Shaw has been City’s top goalscorer for the past four seasons and is poised to win a third successive WSL Golden Boot after scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances, with one league game remaining.

Her partnership with Vivianne Miedema has clicked into gear this season and City fans will have been hoping to see more of the duo together.

Instead, other WSL clubs are watching with interest – including Chelsea, the dethroned WSL champions, who are understood to want to bring the 29-year-old on board and are willing to pay her £1 million per year, according to earlier reports in The Athletic.

Bunny Shaw: “Manchester is my home”

When Shaw scored her 100th goal for City in December 2025, she declared, “Manchester is my home!” on the pitch afterwards, much to fans’ delight.

And City boss Andree Jeglertz paid fulsome tribute to her, saying: “It’s amazing. I’m so happy for her of course, but also for this club, to have her in this environment and in our team. She is affecting things.

“She has a big role but is also a great team-mate. She knows it’s not just about her scoring goals. The assists have to come from somebody.

“She is working every day to become a little bit better and that is the most important thing in this job – that she is never satisfied.

“Watching her a few years ago, there were a lot of goals from crosses and with headers but I think she showed today she can score in different ways. That’s a part she has developed and is still doing so.”

Earlier this year she scored the earliest and quickest hat-trick in WSL history.

Shaw joined City from Bordeaux in 2021, and extended her initial three-year deal to keep her at the club until the summer of 2026.
