After months of deadlock and years trying to find him a permanent move, there is finally a breakthrough in the talks to sell Axel Disasi to Crystal Palace.

French football insider Fabrice Hawkins reports that there is a “verbal agreement” between Chelsea and Palace at last. After all that, it will be a loan with no option, not a sale.

“Disasi remains Palace’s priority to replace Maxence Lacroix,” Hawkins wrote.

“Talks now ongoing with the player and his representatives. If an agreement is reached, Disasi will play for Palace this season.”

Chelsea simply have to hope Disasi plays as well for Palace as he did for West Ham after joining them on loan last season.

He still has two years left on his contract after this season – a perfect moment to sell him, then. This is a bit of a gamble, as if he ends up on the bench it’s bad business. But clearly the permanent offers Chelsea have received haven’t been as good as they had hoped.

In other news…

Chelsea are also pushing Mamadou Sarr out of the door. There is talk of contact with other clubs for the defender, who is expected to leave soon.

Valentin Barco will soon be in action for Chelsea, and he’s spoken a little about how he sees his game and how he can help Chelsea.

As the transfer deadline closes in, Chelsea have to make some big decisions about the hefty asking prices they’ve put on some of their players.
