Inter Miami added its latest international star ahead of the resumption of the MLS season.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro joined the Herons as a free agent signing, the Eastern Conference club announced Wednesday. Casemiro signed with Inter Miami through the 2027 MLS Spring Season and his contract also includes two option years as well.
Inter Miami acquired his Discovery Priority Rights from the LA Galaxy in order to make the signing, however, MLS has since announced that it is reviewing a tampering allegation against the club in relation to the move.
Casemiro spent the last four seasons with English Premier League side Manchester United, scoring 26 goals in 160 appearances. The 34-year-old began his career at São Paulo FC in his native Brazil before eventually featuring for FC Porto and Real Madrid.
Casemiro has lifted 21 trophies during his club career, including five UEFA Champions League crowns. In total, he’s scored 73 goals and added 61 assists in 663 career club appearances.
He most recently featured with Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking his cap tally up to 91 in all competitions.
“What motivates me the most, and I think this is true for every player, is winning and continuing to grow,” said Casemiro. “The project the club presented to me, along with the effort everyone made to bring me here, means a lot to me.
“I’m incredibly grateful, and I can’t wait to get started so I can repay that trust, not only during the 90 minutes on matchday, but every day in training as well,” he added. “All I can say is thank you, and I’ll give everything I have to return the affection and confidence the club has shown me.”

Galaxy adds Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi
The LA Galaxy added a dynamic face to its growing attacking unit.
Kyogo Furuhashi joined from EFL Championship side Birmingham City in a permanent deal, both clubs announced Tuesday. The 31-year-old signed a five-year contract through the 2030-31 MLS season and brings ample international experience to Greg Vanney’s roster.
“We’re excited to welcome Kyōgo to the LA Galaxy and to Los Angeles,” said Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz. “He brings a wealth of experience having played matches with Japanese National Team, in the UEFA Champions League, and in some of the best domestic leagues in Europe. We’re thrilled to add a player of his caliber, goal scoring ability, and diverse experience to our group and look forward to the impact he will make on and off the field.”
Furuhashi struggled to make a major impact in England, scoring just three goals in 31 appearances for Birmingham City.
However, Furuhashi was a successful player for Scottish giants Celtic, where he tallied 85 goals and 19 assists in 165 appearances for the club. He helped Celtic win eight domestic trophies, including four Scottish Premiership titles, and won the SPFL Golden Boot and Player of the Year awards during the 2022-23 campaign.
Internationally, Furuhashi has earned 23 caps for the Japan national team since debuting for his country in 2019.
St. Louis CITY SC sign midfielder Alexandru Matan
Romanian international Alexandru Matan is back in MLS.
Matan joined St. Louis CITY SC as a free agent signing after departing Greek club Panetolikos earlier this summer. The 26-year-old signed a three-year contract through the 2028-29 campaign, which also comes with a club option for 2029-30.
St. Louis acquired Matan’s right of first refusal from the Columbus Crew in exchange for $100,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM).
“Alex is a player Yoann [Damet] and I know very well, not only for the qualities he brings on the field but also his character off it,” said St. Louis CITY SC sporting director Corey Wray. “He brings something different to the squad with his creativity, his ability to progress the ball and his bravery in one-on-one situations. He has a clear understanding of how we want to play and his familiarity with the system, combined with his experience in the league, should help him settle in quickly.”
Matan previously played for the Crew from 2021-24, winning MLS Cup in 2023 and a Leagues Cup title in 24′. He tallied seven goals and 18 assists in 117 appearances across all competitions for Columbus.
