New additions to October USWNT roster

In early October, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) will take on Spain for two international friendlies. This is the first time the USWNT will be reconvening since the Brazil friendlies in June. USWNT head coach Emma Hayes announced the roster at the end of September with three first-time call-ups. All of whom have extensive Youth National Team experience. Hayes later called up an “overage” player from the Under-23 WNT roster to replace injured defender Naomi Girma.

Trinity Byars

Trinity Byars is a second-year forward for the San Diego Wave. She is originally from Richardson, Texas and went on to play collegiate soccer for the Texas Longhorns. After four years with the Longhorns, Byars became the NWSL’s first NCAA signing since the elimination of the draft. She has a regular selection for the youth national teams and has been representing the United States since the U-14 level.

Pietra Tordin

Pietra Tordin is currently a forward for the Portland Thorns. Her hometown is Doral, Florida, and went on to play soccer at Princeton University. During her three years at Princeton, she won the 2024 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and had three All-Ivy League selections. She signed with the Thorns in January 2025 after her impressive 4-goal performance in the 2024 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Evelyn Shores

Evelyn Shores is a defender in her second year with Angel City FC. She is from Atlanta and went on to play two seasons with the UNC Tarheels. She won a NCAA National Championship with the Tarheels during the 2024 season and was the only collegiate player named to the U-23 womens youth national team roster in 2025. She later signed a professional contract with Angel City in July 2025.

Kate Del Fava

Kate Del Fava was a late addition to the October USWNT roster. Hayes called her up to the senior team from the U-23 roster to replace the injured Girma. Del Fava played four years of collegiate soccer at Illinois State and is from Kenosha, Wis. She was drafted to the Utah Royals during the 2020 NWSL Draft and even earned “Iron Woman” honors for playing every minute of the 2024 regular season.
