The Washington Spirit have been dealt another injury blow in the midfield.
The club announced on Thursday that Hal Hershfelt has been placed on the National Women’s Soccer League Season-Ending Injury List. The placement comes after Hershfelt suffered a torn ACL in Washington’s October 25 match against the Kansas City Current.
“Hershfelt will undergo surgery to repair her ACL and will work with the Spirit’s medical and performance staff as she rehabs,” the team stated in a press release.
Hershfelt has been a member of the Washington Spirit since 2024. Since then, she has made 66 starts in 72 regular-season appearances. She helped Washington win the 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup, and make back-to-back NWSL Championship appearances.
The Clemson alum earned the NWSL’s Second Best XI nod in 2024.
Hershfelt will finish the season at 31 appearances across all competitions for the Spirit in 2026.
