Chelsea take on Arsenal at the Emirates later today, and we were really curious to see the team that Xabi Alonso would put out.

It feels like we’re starting to get an idea of the team that Alonso likes, but there are still some positions where we’re working out his preference. The biggest game of the season so far gives us some major clues.

Chelsea's team to face Arsenal

Alonso’s team has eye-catching change in defence

The first things to note is in the back line – there’s a shift, with Levi Colwill dropping out and Josh Acheampong coming in. That’s really interesting, as Colwill is key in our build-up. It’s a huge vote of confidence in Acheampong, which we love to see.

Further forward, the wing back question has been answered – it’s Jorrel Hato and Pedro Neto for this one.

Reece James and Romeo Lavia make up a talented but fragile midfield pair. As we suspected, Moises Caicedo isn’t even on the bench. Let’s hope his injury isn’t too bad, clearly he’s being protected.

We all know what the front line is – and we can’t wait to see that deadly trio in action again.

In other news…

Arsenal are missing a couple of important players today – Chelsea need to capitalise.

The battle between these two clubs began in the summer, when Morgan Rogers came to Stamford Bridge instead of the Emirates.

Gary Neville is making big claims about Chelsea this season, saying that we’ve already got a better attack than Arsenal after our summer upgrades.
