Yohannes, Coffey among USWNT players learn UWCL opponents


The 2026-27 UEFA Women’s Champions League field and matchups are set.

All 18 qualified teams learned their six league phase matchups ahead of the new edition of the competition. Barcelona are the reigning UWCL winners after rolling past Lyon 4-0 in Oslo last May.

A total of six U.S. Women’s National Team players will be part of this season’s tournament, with all of them having hopes of lifting the UWCL trophy next spring. There has been ample USWNT involvement in the competition over the last few years.

Lily Yohannes and Korbin Shrader will try and lead Lyon back to the tournament final after falling to Barcelona last May. Lyon’s toughest two matches coming against WSL opponents, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Emily Fox and Arsenal will not only face off with Lyon at the Emirates Stadium, but also visit Barcelona in Spain as their other headlining fixture.

Coffey and Manchester City sealed a return to the UWCL after capturing the WSL title last spring for the first time in 10 years. The Citizens’ toughest two fixtures come at home against Paris St-Germain and a trip to German giants Bayern Munich.

Girma and Thompson both helped Chelsea reach the league phase after eliminating Real Sociedad 6-2 on aggregate in the qualifying round. The Blues’ toughest match will be a trip to Lyon while PSG also visits Stamford Bridge.

The UCL League Phase stage begins on September 22-23.

Alyssa Thompson, Naomi Girma and Chelsea: vs. Paris St-Germain, at Lyon, vs. AS Roma, at Hacken, vs. Austria Vienna, at OH Leuven.
