
Ghanaian youngster Isaac Assibu has been rewarded for his rapid progress at Swedish powerhouse Malmo FF after signing a long-term contract extension and earning a permanent promotion to the club’s first team.The 18-year-old winger has extended his stay with the Allsvenskan giants until beyond 2030 following an impressive rise through the club’s youth ranks since joining from the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) in 2025.Assibu initially linked up with Malmo’s U19 side, where he quickly showcased his immense potential.Before the mid-season break, he made six appearances in the U19 Allsvenskan and scored three goals, performances that caught the attention of the club’s senior technical team.His development continued at an impressive pace after the summer as he trained regularly with the first team.Strong displays during training earned him a place in Malmo’s matchday squad for the Allsvenskan clash against IFK Goteborg before making his league debut as a second-half substitute against Kalmar FF.Capable of operating on either wing, Assibu has been praised for his blistering pace, exceptional one-on-one ability and attacking flair.Malmo sporting director Philip Berglund explained that the club had no hesitation in securing the Ghanaian’s long-term future.”Isaac has shown an X-factor and a mentality in training that we have all been impressed with. It will be exciting to continue to follow Isaac’s development as he is now permanently promoted to our men’s team from P19. We are very happy to sign a contract with him beyond 2030,” Berglund said.Assibu expressed his delight after putting pen to paper on the new deal.”I am very happy to extend my contract. I feel good in Malm, it is a nice place and I am getting into it more and more. It has been a very good experience to train with the first team every day and it has made me develop,” he said.Reflecting on his top-flight debut, the Ghanaian youngster added: “It was fantastic to make my debut in the Allsvenskan.
