The National Womens Soccer League (NWSL) is currently on a break from games during the month of June. This allows players called up to their national teams to compete in international friendlies. While many players were selected to the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT), nine NWSL players competed on behalf of the Brazilian national team.
Brazil and the USWNT played twice on June 6 and June 9. The teams split the series as the USWNT beat Brazil on their home field for the first time since 1997.
Ary Borges
Ariadina (Ary) Borges is currently a midfielder for the Angel City Football Club (ACFC). She signed ACFC after three seasons with Racing Louisville. Borges is a regular selection and is playing in her sixth season with the Brazilian national team. One of her best performances was her hatrick during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in a matchup against Panama.
Amanda Gutierres
Amanda Gutierres is a forward for the Boston Legacy. While it’s her first year in the NWSL, she excelled playing professionally in Brazil and was nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Féminin. Gutierres is currently playing her third season for the Brazilian national team.
Lorena
Lorena da Silva Leite, better known as Lorena, is a goalkeeper in her second year with the Kansas City Current. In her first NWSL season, she won the 2025 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year award as the Current secured the 2025 NWSL Shield. Lorena has been playing for the Brazilian national team since 2021 and helped secure Brazil’s silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Angelina
Angelina Alonso Costantino, more commonly known as Angelina, is a midfielder for the Orlando Pride. Before joining the Pride in 2024, she played three seasons with the Seattle Reign. Angelina is a vital part of the Brazilian national team. Most notably, she was the captain of the team during their run to the gold medal match in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Marta
Marta Vieira da Silva, who goes by Marta, is a veteran forward for the Orlando Pride. She joined the Pride in 2017 and is currently the club’s leader in goals and appearances. Marta is also a storied member of the Brazilian national team. With 17 goals, she is the all-time goals leader in mens and womens World Cup history.
Rafaelle
Rafaelle Leone Carvalho Souza, better known as Rafaelle, is a veteran defender for the Orlando Pride. Before signing with Orlando, she played with Arsenal and the Houston Dash. Rafaelle became the first Brazilian to be drafted to the NWSL in 2014. She began playing for the Brazilian national team in 2011 and has made two World Cup and three Olympic rosters.
Gabi Portilho
Gabi Portilho is a forward for the San Diego Wave. She played her first NWSL season in 2025 with Gotham FC where she won an NWSL Championship. Portilho is a regular selection for the Brazilian national team and scored multiple goals during their silver medal run in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Dudinha
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues Silva, who goes by Dudinha, is a forward in her second season with the San Diego Wave. The Wave acquired her last summer from São Paulo FC after she made her debut on the senior Brazilian national team in May 2025. While she has become a breakout star in the NWSL, Dudinha announced that she suffered ACL and meniscus injuries during Brazil’s international friendly against the USWNT last Tuesday.
Ludmila
Ludmila da Silva, more commonly known as Ludmila, is currently a forward for the San Diego Wave. Before being acquired by San Diego, she played two seasons with the Chicago Stars. Ludmila has competed in multiple international tournaments on behalf of the Brazilian national team, including the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.
