The Current Top Scorers in the NCAA

Women’s college soccer has been in full swing. There have been many highlights from the season so far. From unexpected results to wild finishes, the NCAA has been loaded with excitement. Lots of goals means lots of goalscorers. Here we will take a look at the current scorers who are at the top of the table.

Kayla Keefer (Oklahoma)

With 19 goals recorded, Keefer has proven to be a top finisher. Her impressive eye for goal has given lots of recognition. For instance, she has already recorded four hat tricks in this season alone. She has received Top Drawer’s National Player of the Week and SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week recognitions.

Along with this, her stellar performance has already shattered program records previously held in 2009. Her hot streak of scoring does not seem to be cooling down. With the Sooners ranked N0. 23 nationally, it will be interesting to see if they can climb the ranking ladder with the way Keefer has been playing.

Three-Way Tie for Second

The second spot of the top scorers list has three players in a tie. Grace Ambrose (Alcorn), Bella Devey (UNC), and Mia Minestrella (Duke) all have a record 15 goals.

Grace Ambrose demonstrated great skill in the final third. She broke the single-season goal scoring record for Alcorn State earlier this month when the team won in a historic 17-0 result. Ambrose is no stranger to finalizing an offensive attack on the pitch as she has secured a hat trick and a brace in the matches against Nicholls State and Jacksonville State.

Bella Devey’s season so far has been an eruption of technique and finishing at the goal. Her freshman season was impressive with 5 recorded goals. Now in her sophomore year, she has exploded into a prominent goalscorer. She has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week three times this season and has helped the Tar Heels retain the number one spot in the NCAA standings.

Blue Devil, Mia Minestrella, is an efficient and skillful player in her senior year. After recording a hat trick against SMU, she only sits two goals away from shattering Duke’s career scoring record. She received the ACC Player of the Week recognition this week, which is her second time receiving the recognition this season.

Three-Way Tie for Third

Jaiden Anderson (Purdue), Amanda Schlueter (Ohio State), and Sydney Watts (Vanderbilt) are tied with 14 goals.

Anderson played her first two collegiate seasons at USC. Ever since her transfer to Purdue, she has been making a positive impact on the offensive line. She has shown great on-ball skill and the ability to weave through defenders in speedy fashion.

Amanda Schlueter is performing at an all-time high in her senior year. Not only has she been listed on the MAC Hermann Trophy Mid-Season Watch List, but she is also the first player in Ohio State history to reach 100 points. Schuleter came up big time against the Trojans when she scored a crucial brace to lead Ohio State to victory.

Lastly, Watts is electrifying Vanderbilt’s season. In the first 12 matches of the season, Watts was able to score 13 goals. This bumped her to the second slot in Vanderbilt’s all-time goalscorers with 38 career goals. Watts has been recognized as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
