Last month, Emma Hayes, head coach of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT), announced the 26-player roster for the international matchups in June.
The National Womens Soccer League (NWSL) went into an international break for the month of June to allow USWNT players to make their way to Brazil for international friendlies. They faced Brazil on Saturday and will match up again on Tuesday evening.
While there are no first time call-ups, fans are excited about the returning players and roster changes. After the Japan friendlies in April, Hayes added goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn, defender Tara Rudd and midfielders Croix Bethune and Riley Jackson.
Notable Returns
After an almost 2-year hiatus, the dominant forward trio that includes Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Wilson is back. The trio nicknamed the “Triple Espresso” has not played together since they won gold together at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Swanson welcomed her daughter, Josie, in November 2025 and made her official return to the USWNT this month. Wilson also gave birth to her daughter, Gianna, in September 2025 and returned for the international friendlies in April.
Defender Tierna Davidson rejoined the USWNT alongside Wilson before the Japan friendlies. Davidson tore her ACL early in the 2025 NWSL season and made her 2026 NWSL season debut on March 21.
Notable Absences
Midfielders Catarina Macario and Sam Coffey and defender Naomi Girma were noteworthy players that were left off of the USWNT rosters this month. All three players were not available for selection due to various injuries.
Macario is currently sidelined with a persistent heel injury that she has been dealing with since December 2025. Coffey underwent minor knee surgery in May and is currently in rehabilitation. Girma is also recovering from a calf injury.
While goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce was named to the June USWNT roster, she was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury during the World Sevens Football tournament in England. She was later replaced by Jane Campbell.
